I was having a time where I was occasionally looking to read some more leftist or anarchist theory from the likenesses of Kropotkin and such, when I asked my father if he happened to have any books from Kropotkin himself by any chance. His response, as blunt as it might have been, cannot stray much further from the actual truth, it seems: “I don’t. These are dead idiots. Why would you care?” That response struck like lightning on me like a whole epiphany on my head; I was reading theory from a bunch of old-timey dead idiot folks who do not have even a slight grasp of what is going on in the current year or the current times.
It is true that sometimes their theory is true for the bare-bones basics of anarchist, or even leftist, ideology, just when it so happens to be one of those very few instances of anachronistic wordings that are timeless per se, but there lies the problem: a lot of these folks like Kropotkin, Marx, and so on are either old or dead. Their prior understanding of the world is one where racism and antisemitism was the norm, and where there was not even such a thing as the Internet or smartphones; we got a lot more going on in this hypercapitalistic reality of today - even despite a billionaire piece of mongrel shit from the fortune of Apartheid South African emerald mines of old is ruling over just the single social media site that controls discourse the most like Twitter, he’s getting relentlessly bullied not just by investors of the Old World and his finances, but also what would easily be his customers when they have two neurons on their head; AKA those who are not bootlickers of the Musk empire. We play on more advanced rules of not just shitposting or memetics, but also praxis. We’re not in the XIX Century anymore.
The underlying problem with the baby boomer generation and back is that they think they know more about life under the system than they actually do; the sad reality of this is that, at least for boomers, they’ve been living with no Internet whatsoever, watching the idiot box TV all day, every day, being susceptible and subjected to capitalist and fascist propaganda of the Cold War era that turned them into brainless goons, while they’re all comfy in suspiciously crime-proof streets with a bunch of technological quackery. Ironically, these old generations are the ones who mostly are grown to be sociopathic rulers of our current generations, the so-called Millenials and Zoomers (Generation Z), and even beyond. They’ve been the ones who built even the toxic work environments that we have to live through today by their societal rules, and yet, they tell us that they have a better idea of how society works than us? Horseshit.
Lest anyone thinks anyone who’s currently dead like Kropotkin or Marx would have even a better idea of how society should work today. If they had an understanding of how our current technological society works today, they’d not be dead right now. That’s the point.
The billionaires that run the world today are mostly the people of the Old World, and it’s no wonder why they don’t even have a basic grasp on how current society works, to the point of poorly managing their businesses trying to cater to us the Millenials and Zoomers. Elon might be The Richest Man In The World (TM) and a financial god among men, but the fact that he’s running Twitter and Tesla like a complete clown who doesn’t have any idea of how technology works or how code works, makes you think that even a financial god like him can bleed in his own stupidity, entirely built on the flimsy foundations of the Old World of the Cold War era at least. His brain is like an old-fashioned Nokia brick phone compared to our more modern iPhones and Oppo phones, where his is unable to update its “firmware” to the current times. At least we got the late capability of having more advanced learning skills enough to adapt ourselves to more modern times, and even Zoomers got it faster, as fast as 5G shit. What does make a boomer like Elon or Bezos think they can know better than us? The fact that they’ve been through the DotCom bubble? Give me a break.
In response to the outdated theories of the past, even those coming from the dead and the old, we must try to put our brains into coming up with anarchist and anti-capitalist or anti-fascist theory that best adapts to the current times. It’s not going to be in the old-fashioned paper books, at least, not for the most part, but it’s going to be even online, on blogs or YouTube videos. Turn off the Old World’s tele, guys and gals… we got a lot of learning to do.
