YouTube commentary slop reeks of anti-intelligence

I had rather disappointing Reddit arguments before, where people become so increasingly defensive of their own hivemind Lords more than having any semblance of critical thought or do any pertinent research on the accomplishments of someone like me, but a moment that made me go “this is it”, among some others, is when I posted the previous article about ChudLogic on the r/SomeOrdinaryGmrs subreddit, to the ire of many of its denizens, who, unsurprisingly enough, after calling my article “unsubstanciated”, “bad” or “terrible”, with “no valid sources to my claims”, despite the fact that the claims can be easily researched by looking at Chud’s general YouTube career, as I soon proven in a screenshot of his titles and thumbnails bashing trans women, decided not to elaborate on their claims after saying so, nor to bother to research my career or person other than the usual KiwiFarms talking points about “eating shit” or “making shooting spree pranks” that, while half-true at least, are basically surface-level KiwiFarms talking points for people who do not want to research my YouTube career or my website’s career for that matter, to realize well enough I am more clever, way more clever than those couple tiny minuscule intellectual slip-ups. And I’m not mad about it, reasonably so, but I’m so disappointed that, thanks to the general culture of YouTube slop content such as Mutahar’s, MoistCr1tikal’s or Pyrocynical’s, this is a general trend in their audience that reeks of being the complete opposite of intelligence, the “anti-intelligence” of sorts which avoids all sorts of thinking effort or even research effort because it’s more palatable to the brains to consume whatever diatribe these mouthpieces spew on their massive YouTube channels.

Let’s face it: for people like MoistCr1tikal or Mutahar, researching a topic or a person thoroughly is like kryptonite for them; they have to pump up daily videos every day to keep up with a draconian algorithm that will punish them if they minimally take a break, and I don’t 100% blame them, even though, they chose to follow this production work ethic, because YouTube is a platform that rewards unintelligent but engaging diatribe that will attract clicks and engagement. It’s what leads to so many anti-woke channels to rise to the top unpunished, because their uncritical praise and engagement in the algorithm, despite even negative, drives YouTube HQ to get the bag of money in the process, as well as these channels do too; and to my credit, I’m not just the person who nearly “ate shit”: I’m clearly smart enough, smarter than just that even, to do my own extensive research on the topic at hand when I make our videos. One instance of this is the live service games video, where I even had to scour through multiple news articles and academic research on the topic of live service games to get a lengthy 1-hour video. That’s not the kind of work a person who presumably eats shit would do, and that sort of intelligence, to critically think before they speak anything and do their due diligence of researching what they’re about to say, especially in a YouTube video, is something that is lacking not just in the centrist to right-wing sphere of content creators and personalities, but also their sort of audiences on sites like YouTube and Reddit. These sites, let me tell you: they abhor intelligence; my live service video was an underperforming heavyweight, while plenty of these slop videos on YouTube rise to the top of the ocean of fecal matter; truth hurts too much when it’s intelligent that people would willingly prefer to eat slop.

I don’t necessarily blame these content creators per se individually, but this is because of a system that rewards these sorts of bad actors, that incentivizes anti-intelligence for the sake of a quick buck, and if it was clearly evident from our video about how AI was, for once, getting smarter than us, Big Tech corporations but also corporations in general love when they can sell slop or shit to uncritically dumb masses; this is why shareholders are easily hyped on GenAI, when GenAI is becoming more of a lackluster plagiarism laundering engine, or similar tech fads like crypto or NFTs. Uncleverness breeds uncleverness. It’s not black and white though; there are no super-smart people but there are no super-dumb people either, no one is perfect… but notice how con artists, big or small, can exploit the naiveté of gullible people for profit; it’s a bit like a Nigerian email scam filtering with their bad grammar and spelling the people who won’t fall for their scam from the people who actually will.

And it’s incredibly sad that these sorts of people, a lot of times, are a lost cause; there’s such a thing such as confirmation bias, and a lot of grifters tend to play with that such confirmation bias for their own personal gain. After all, our brains in general don’t work to be challenged, but to be instead validated on our own preset beliefs and ideas without any critics or challenging beliefs or proof. This is why echo-chambers exist, on a whole plethora of social media platforms, and not much can be done to get them out of their Plato-tier cave of shadow puppets. But I have higher hopes from the people who can read this and tell that I’m not just a person who, as I once did in my whole entire life, in comparison with the whole myriad of accomplishments that I did in my whole life, ate a log of shit.

Maybe, someday, I can be proven these people exist. Until then, I repeat the words of “Serious” Sam Stone: “Never underestimate the power of stupid things in large numbers”…

P.S.:

I’d like to add this as a post-publish edit as well because I can see from miles afar this type of comment, that I’m just “failing” and “desperate” at being a “clout-chaser” or some shit like that. And, you know? Sort of a half-valid criticism right there, I need to drive traffic to my YouTube and my website to drive revenue in some way or another to cover certain expenses as well… totally is not a thing that most of your favourite slop content creators are doing on a regular basis! That constant need to clout-chase to stay infinitely relevant. The key difference is: I do it because I want to make a certain impact in society by providing something someone can learn from or be valuable for someone; these people just create KiwiFarms adjacent muck that only serves to validate pre-existing biases in their audience. They create that, slop.
